WCSRT welcomes new staff

The Wessex Chalk Stream and Rivers Trust is excited to announce a number of new staff members will join the Trust soon or have already started to work for us.

Mike Blackmore - Head of Project Delivery

In August, Mike Blackmore will start as Head of Project Delivery. This is a new role within the Trust: Mike will become responsible for the newly formed delivery team and he will be instrumental in shaping and developing long-term improvement plans for the rivers in Wessex.

Until then, Mike is working for the Wild Trout Trust as Conservation Officer in the south west (including Wessex). A role he has held since 2012 and in that capacity has gathered an impressive wealth of knowledge adn experience on river restoration and fish migration barrier removal work on the southern chalk streams. We are delighted Mike has accepted our offer and we are confident the Trust and our chalk streams will benefit greatly. In the meantime, we are working closely together with the Wild Trout Trust to ensure a smooth transition process for both organisations.

Monica Howard - Finance Officer

Monica has joined us in March. She is an experienced book keeper and will help the Trust keep on top of its finances, as well as develop a future proof budget and accounting system. In addition to her work for the Trust she is looking after the finances of Winchester RFC.

Ed Eley - Project Officer

Ed started to work for the Trust in April as Project Officer on the Avon. He will take on delivery of river restoration and habitat improvement projects on the Avon. Before that, Ed worked for the Wild Trout Trust and he has ample experience with practical river restoration work. Especially his chainsaw skills will come in handy!
