Fishing Sale 2018


Kind friends and supporters of the Wessex Chalk Stream & Rivers Trust have very generously donated some exciting and rarely available fishing days for the Trust to sell in order to raise much needed funds.

Many of these fabulous fishing days are on private or club waters, which cannot normally be accessed by the general public - so a real opportunity for keen fishermen and women in 2018!

RIVER TEST
A day on the Test at Wherwell for one or two rods sharing a beat to be taken after the June weed cut (weed cut ends 23/6/18). Catch limit 4 trout.

A day’s fishing on a Saturday on the Test at Wherwell, for 1 or 2 rods. Any time from 1 May to 30 September. Beat to be discussed on date chosen.

2 rods on the Test at Bossington Estate. A date after the June weed cut to be mutually agreed.

A day’s brown trout fishing for 2 rods on the Broadlands Estate, River Test. Date by arrangement.

A day's fishing for 1 or 2 rods on the River Test at Chilbolton - on the main river adjoining the southern boundary of Chilbolton Common. Date by arrangement. £150

RIVER ITCHEN
A day for 1 or 2 rods, fishing together, for trout and grayling on any of the Piscatorial Society waters on the River Avon, Itchen, Test or Wylye, excluding the Grange Estate beats on the Itchen. This is some of the best chalk stream fishing and is very rarely available to non-members. The winning bidder will be hosted by a member of the Society's fisheries team. Other rods may be fishing at the same time. Upstream dry fly or unweighted nymph, catch & release. July onwards, 2018 season.

A day's fishing for trout on the Itchen on a date to be confirmed before the end of June for 4 rods on Beats 1 & 2 of the Grange Estate Main River and Shallows beats, which includes the very wild Lovington Carrier. Fishing is upstream dry fly or unweighted nymph only. Environment Agency fishing license required.

A day for 2 rods on the Fulling Mill Fishery on the Itchen near Easton, Hampshire. Dry fly fishing for wild trout – catch and release only. Fishing available in Mayfly season.

A day for 2 rods on Ross Brawn’s stretch of the Itchen at St Cross, Winchester. This is the water fished by FM Halford for several years. Over the past five years, Ross has taken the water back to a wild fishery. No restriction on when you take the day.

HAMPSHIRE AVON
A day’s guided fishing for salmon for 2 rods at Bisterne on the Hampshire Avon – date to be arranged from March – July. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

A rare opportunity for non-members to fish for trout on the Salisbury and District Angling Club waters during the Mayfly. 1 day for 2 rods. Beats on Rivers Avon, Wylye, Nadder, Bourne and Ebble. Dates may include weekends, by arrangement.

Fly fishing for 1 on the Services water of the Upper Salisbury Avon between Bulford and Fifield. Any 1 day after 15 June for 1 rod by arrangement with the donor. Dry fly and upstream nymph only for brown trout and grayling on six miles of river. Four trout of over 12 inches may be retained for the table. Wading is permitted. A day's salmon fishing for 1 rod (2 rods maybe possible by negotiation) on the Hampshire Avon on the Bisterne Estate (middle beat) on 21st May. The beat, one of three, regarded by many of the syndicate members as the most popular. Salmon maybe fished for using a fly or spinning ie lure or spinner (the latter is from mid May only). John McGrath, a highly respected fly fisherman, will assist as necessary. The beat has easy access and during dry conditions access to the beat can be made by car directly on to the river bank. In wet conditions, the walk is approximately 100m.

An opportunity for 2 people to fish Sutton Bingham Reservoir near Yeovil in Somerset. A boat will be provided.
